Pintangle

 Sharon Boggon

Years ago, I found Sharon Boggon's website called Pintangle. It is an amazing site, concetrating on contemporary hand embroidery and crazy quilting. Sharon is an inspiration to all fibre artists and willingly shares her creativeness and information within the site. Read about her here.

When I am looking at Sharon's site, I usually have a cup of tea ready and look at all the interesting goodies and eyecandy on offer. As well as as templates, crazy quilt patterns and free-hand embroidery patterns, there are links to outside related resources, which can keep me hooked for a whole afternoon!

Sharon has issued a challenge to embroider frequently, and this is called TAST - Take A Stitch Tuesday. She provides a new stitch every week, and this is shown in the Stitch Dictionary. This is the most comprehensive variety of stitches I have ever seen. Just open up one stitch and you will see the variety of ideas and techniques Sharon has provided for you to try. Brilliant!
I wanted to make a book of stitches for reference and started on this - stitching a variety of buttonhole stitches, using mainly TAST.
I was going to put it in a small loose leaf folder and have the names of the stiches beside the sewing, I even buttonholed around the holes for the prongs!

I didn't like it! It was too clunky and just didn't work for me. I ground to a halt after only two pages... but Sharon's sampler haunted me.

So, after moving to a new house and having a long, but not serious illness, I decided to try again. I dug out my new hoop, which I blogged about in the last post, ordered some Aida, found my embroidery thread and got ready to go.

Blogger does not like my iPad, so I have had to dig out my laptop and post on it. As a result I am a bit behind on my posting. I will catch up soon.

Till next time,
Celttich
